History of the DKNY brand
The Donna Karan New York fashion house was founded in 1984. The concept of American designer, Donna Karan, is based on the interchangeability of clothes, with the ambition of simplifying the style of the active and modern woman. She offers, in fact, the possibility of creating outfit combinations from just a few models. Women can then mix and match pieces from their wardrobe to create looks suitable for all occasions: day or night, weekday or weekend, summer or winter. Faced with such success and inspired by her daughter, in 1988, the designer launched the DKNY (Donna Karan New York) collections: a younger and more accessible ready-to-wear line, from which she developed DKNY baby and DKNY kids. The talent of this creative director has been recognized throughout her career by the CFDA, Council of Fashion Designers of America. She received the "Special Award" in 1986, the "Women's Wear Award" in 1991, the "Men's Wear Award" in 1993, and the "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2004.
