Faux fur for babies: more than ever!

The laborious beginnings of synthetic fur

If there's one "fake" we're going to love again this winter for babies, it's faux fur! And yet, when it first appeared on the market in 1929, there was nothing to suggest that its future would be promising: poor quality, few colors... However, a few decades later, a first step was taken: textile manufacturers improved manufacturing processes to obtain greater density and resistance of the hairs, more attractive colors... It wasn't until the 70s and 80s that synthetic fur made a small entry into fashion collections. But, once again, the label of "tacky and low-end" stuck to it.

Faux fur: an essential trend

Avant-garde fashion designers, concerned about the environment and aware of the cruelty involved in fur production for animals, began to ban natural fur from their collections: Stella McCartney was the first. Fashion icons like Penélope Cruz and Eva Mendes joined the movement by participating in PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) advertising campaigns.

Little by little, many major brands in the fashion and luxury industry such as Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, John Galliano, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein... followed suit by officially announcing that they no longer wanted to use real fur in their collections. In November 2019, during a television show, Jean-Paul Gaultier also announced that he would stop creating clothes with leather or real fur.

Beyond these ethical reasons, it must be admitted that faux fur now looks as real and as soft as real fur. And that's exactly what we've been waiting for all these years!

Visually, one is amazed by its natural look: one could even mistake it for the real thing... Whether it imitates small rodents, felines or other mammals, faux fur is varied and elegant to enhance the looks of little ones.

To the touch, one can't help but caress it and feel its softness. The simple thought that it warmly wraps up the little ones is comforting.
